Diameter .2360″ Made in the USA   What Does a Motorcycle Clutch Push Rod Do? A motorcycle clutch push rod is vital to the motorcycle’s clutch system. The clutch is a mechanism that allows the rider to disengage and engage the engine’s power from the transmission to the wheels. When the clutch lever on the handlebar is pulled in, it activates the clutch system, disengaging the engine power from the transmission and allowing the rider to shift gears without causing damage or stalling the engine. The clutch push rod is a rod-like component that extends from the clutch lever on the handlebar to the clutch assembly inside the engine. When the rider pulls the clutch lever, it exerts force on the push rod, which, in turn, presses against the clutch plates inside the engine. This pressure causes the clutch plates to separate, disengaging the engine power from the transmission, and enabling the rider to shift gears smoothly. When the clutch lever is released, the pressure on the push rod is released as well, allowing the clutch plates to re-engage, and the engine power is transferred back to the transmission, delivering power to the wheels once again. The proper functioning of the clutch push rod is crucial for smooth gear shifting and the motorcycle’s overall performance. Suppose there are any issues with the clutch push rod, such as bending, wear, or misalignment. In that case, it can lead to clutch problems, difficulty in shifting gears, or clutch slippage, all of which can impact the motorcycle’s performance and rideability. Regular clutch system maintenance and inspection, including the push rod, are essential to ensure the motorcycle operates correctly and safely.
