The DME Racing Motorcycle Chain Roller is designed for your DME Racing motorcycle swingarm that is 72″ or longer. Our chain roller will keep tension on the chain during shock compression and deceleration, thus keeping the chain from whipping up and down. This will also preserve the life of your chain. INSTALL We suggest installing your chain roller as close to the rear sprocket as we can, while still allowing clearance to the rear tire. Static Pressure: We don’t recommend a lot of pressure on the roller at a static stage. Under deceleration, the chain will be straight on the bottom side, and with that load, it will put extra pressure on the roller. Mounting: A #7 drill will be needed that measures .201″ Bolts: Bolts are a 1/4-20 bolt that requires a 1/4-20 tap. CHAIN SLACK How Tight Should your Chain Be? Because each motorcycle is different, there is going to be a different measurement of tension, there is no universal answer. On average most motorcycles will need a chain tension of about a half-inch to an inch in slack. This means that the chain should be able to move about a half-inch to an inch up and about a half-inch to an inch down. Your chain roller should be adjusted in one of the three holes so that the chain only rides on the roller after the suspension has traveled and the chain gets slack.
